The Gsiesertal Lauf is considered one of the most popular and best-known ski marathons in the entire
Alpine region. It takes place every year on the 3rd weekend in February in the Gsiesertal / South Tyrol,
Italy.
The distances run are 30 km and 42 km, on Saturdays in classic style, on Sundays in skating style. The „Just
for Fun“ group is also very popular, without the stress of racing or timekeeping. The supporting programme also includes the „MINI-Gsieser“ on Saturday.

DAY 1: Arrival at Hochpustertal (Dobbiaco)
Individual arrival at the hotel in Hochpustertal. Free, unguarded public car park near the hotel.
DAY 2: Dobbiaco - Sesto (approx. 15 - 45 km)
The perfectly groomed trail leads across meadows, fields and through snow-covered winter forests, starting from the Alta Pusteria via San Candido to the mountaineering village of Sesto. Particularly well trained cross-country skiers can extend the tour by taking a detour across the Austrian border to Sillian, if the snow conditions are good.
The return journey is possible by public transport.
DAY 3: Dobbiaco – Valle di Landro/Cortina d’Ampezzo (approx. 10 - 60 km)
Starting from the cross-country skiing center Nordic Arena, where the world‘s best cross-country skiers every year compete for important World Cup points on the challenging circular trails, you can glide on the line of the former Dolomites railway into the Landro Valley. You can decide whether you like to stop for apple strudel and coffee already at the lake of Dobbiaco, continue to the “Three Peaks View” and take a look at the symbol of the Dolomites, or even go on through several tunnels and over an old railway bridge the “Queen the Dolomites”, Cortina d‘Ampezzo. The return trip is possible by public transport.
DAY 4: Circular trail Prato Piazza (one lap approx. 6 km) and snow shoe hiking to the Strudelkopf (Monte Specie)
Today‘s cross-country day is dedicated to the exploration of the well-known high pateau. At the foot of the Croda Rossa and the Picco Vallandro, you can trace your tracks in the snow on the circular trail. There is also the option of taking a snowshoe hike to the Monte Specie. If the air is clear, you can enjoy an unforgettable panoramic view of the Dolomites of Sesto and Ampezzo from there.
DAY 5: Circular tour Obertilliach (trail net approx. 60 km)
Today you will ski in the snow-covered Obertilliach in the Lesach valley. While the professionals are preparing for their upcoming competitions in the cross-country and biathlon center, you can enjoy the excellent snow conditions and cross-country ski runs in the surrounding meadows and forests and choose a suitable round from the extensive cross-country ski network.
DAY 6: Preparation for the race
You will explore the race course today and warm up for tomorrow‘s or the day after tomorrow‘s race. The skis can
be tested and there will be a professional ski waxing service in the afternoon. The start number distribution will
also take place on this day.
DAY 7: Race or rest day
The Gsieser Tal Lauf race will take place. The award ceremony will take place after the race. If you do not take part in the race until tomorrow, you can take a leisurely rest day today. You will receive your start numbers for the start on Sunday today and also the waxing service.
DAY 8: Race and departure
If you race today, you will have the race start on that day. The award ceremony will take place after the races. Individual departure or possibility of an extension.
By car: via the Brenner freeway (A22) to Brixen - exit Franzensfeste / Pustertal - through the Pustertal (state road SS49) to Niederdorf or Toblach, depending on the hotel you arrive at, or via the Felbertauern road to Lienz in East Tyrol and further to Italy in Hochpustertal (Niederdorf or Toblach, depending on the arrival hotel).
By train: to Innsbruck via the Brenner Pass to Franzensfeste or from Verona via Bolzano to Franzensfeste. From here to Hochpustertal (direction Innichen - Lienz). Railroad station Niederdorf or Toblach, depending on the starting hotel.
By plane: low cost flights to Treviso or Venice Marco Polo airport. On request we organize transfers from the airport to the starting point of the tour.
