Dolomites - Trieste

Trentino-South Tyrol - IT - AT - Friuli-Venezia Giulia - SI
  • From 829 €
  • Holiday type Bicycle holiday
  • Duration 8 days
  • Difficulty Level Media

Take in three countries in one week by bike. Italy, Austria and Slovenia will present their best features to you. You will witness varying and unique mountain ranges; untouched natural landscapes; crystal clear lakes; soft wine lands embedded against the hillsides and above all, extraordinary sought out stages provide the ideal backdrop for a bike holiday.

Starting from the northeastern Dolomites, the first part of the route runs along the river Drau through the valley of the same name and then on through the Gailtal valley on leisurely cycle paths. After a short detour to the Italian border town of Tarvisio you cycle on to Slovenia. At the fairy-tale Lake Bled, you will be at the foot of the Julian Alps. After a transfer to the south side of the Alps, you will return to Italy in the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and in the famous wine region “Collio”. The former capital of the Lombards, Cividale del Friuli, is worth a visit. Afterwards, a spectacular end to the cycle tour on the Adriatic awaits you. On the last day you cycle along the sea to the former Habsburg port of Trieste.
The tour to Trieste is a varied tour; the last two stages are a bit hilly. The tour goes along bike paths or very quiet side roads, through small villages and picturesque landscape.

Cividale del Friuli
According to legends, it is a devil's bridge. According to the legend, the citizens of Cividale consulted with each other on how to build a solid bridge over the Natisone river. Since they could not agree, they conjured up the devil. Lucifer offered his help, but demanded the soul of the first person to cross the bridge. The inhabitants agreed, but only sent a dog across the bridge, beating the devil with it.
Trieste
Admire the botanical variety in the park surrounding the Castle or enjoy the view over the Gulf of Trieste!
Dölsach
Aguntum was the only Roman town in Tyrol. In the 1st and 2nd century AD it was an important economic centre.

A well-known winter sports resort in Slovenia, nestled in a beautiful mountain scenery.
Bled
The climatic health resort of Bled is best known for its Alpsee lake, Slovenia's only island.
Gorizia
