Explore the Alpine crossing southbound on the first section from Lake Tegernsee to Kitzbühel, via Kufstein and Ellmau.Experience the magic of Lake Tegernsee and the pearl on the Inn – Kufstein. Hike the area around the Wilder Kaiser and visit the vivid Ellmau and Going. Finally hike into trendy Kitzbühel, with a view of the Hahnenkamm ski slope. A highlight tour with enjoyment factor and directly at the pulse of the Alps.

The route is designed to appeal to you as a pleasure hiker.The daily stages are between approx. 11 and 23 km long and there are differences in altitude between approx. 300 m and 1000 m to cover. For the more demanding stages, there are alternatives by public transportation.
The tour is easy to moderately difficult, runs on well prepared hiking trails, gravel forest roads and there are no climbing passages! A head for heights and surefootedness are necessary.

Day 1:

Individual arrival at Tegernsee.

Day 2: Tegernsee - Schliersee

(approx. 4 hours, approx. 12 km, + 610 hm/- 590 hm)

You start the tour at the railway station in the village of Tegernsee and climb up to the well-known Neureuth Hut. An even more beautiful variant of the well-known Prinzenweg leads you via Gindelalm and the Auer Berg to the Huberspitzhaus. From here you head back down the valley to Schliersee.

Day 3: Schliersee - Wendelstein - Bayrischzell

(approx. 4.5 hours, approx. 13 km, +1.020 m / - 80 m)

From picturesque Schliersee, take the bus or train a short distance to Aurach. From here you hike to Fischbachau, past the well-known place of pilgrimage - Birkenstein. From there, the path winds its way over picturesque alpine pastures up to the summit. The summit with its fantastic panoramic view already lets you look deep into the Alps. Take the cable car back down into the valley and to your destination Bayrischzell.

Variant: Aschau - Bayrischzell (approx. 3 hours, approx. 10.8 km, + 191 m/ - 166 m)
Short bus ride to Aschau, from here hike to Birkenstein and at the foot of the Wendelstein to Bayrischzell. Ascent to the summit possible with the Wendelstein cable car.

Day 4: Bayrischzell - Thiersee

(approx. 6 hours, approx. 16 km, + 840 m / - 1.060 m)

Short transfer from Bayrischzell to the starting point at the Steinalm (Zipflwirt). From here you hike over the Nesselberg to the border of Bavaria and Austria/Tyrol. Continue to the Mariandlalm, before you hike leisurely with a constant view of the Wilder Kaiser via the Traisenalm to Thiersee. From there you take the public bus to Hinterthiersee to your hotel.

Day 5: Thiersee - Kufstein

(approx. 4 hours, approx. 13 km, + 310 m / - 450 m)

Todays stage takes you via Thiersee, Längsee and Hechtsee to the pearl of the Inn - Kufstein. Here it is definitely worth visiting the fortress and the largest open-air organ in the world.

Day 6: Kufstein - Ellmau

(approx. 4.5 hours, approx. 13 km, + 460 m / - 760 m)

From Kufstein with the Kaiserlift to the Brentenjoch. Follow the trail of the Adlerweg (Eagles Path) to the Kaindlhütte and continue via the Walleralm along the side of the Wilder Kaiser to the home of the mountain doctor in Ellmau. Free hiking bus from Hintersteinersee to Scheffau and on to Ellmau.

Day 7: Ellmau - Kitzbühel

(approx. 5.5 hours, approx. 17 km, + 650 m / - 700 m)

You start a short but strenuous hike over the Hausberg towards Reith near Kitzbühel. It soon becomes clear why high society has found its second home here. Via the Gieringer Weiher and the Schwarzsee you reach the legendary chamois and sports town of Kitzbühel.

Day 8: Kitzbühel

Organized Transfer back to tegernsee or possibility to extend your stay.

By car: From the north: Take the A8 Munich-Salzburg freeway to the Holzkirchen exit and then the B318/B307 to Tegernsee. From the south: Either via the Inn Valley, the Achen Pass and the B307 or the Inn Valley Motorway, the A8 Munich-Salzburg freeway, to the Irschenberg exit. Continue via B472 and B318 to Tegernsee.
By plane: Munich - Salzburg - Innsbruck
By train: From Munich main station continue with BRB to Gmund or Tegernsee, bus or cab to the hotel.
